O.K. so I must confess there are no trains in this story but
ALOT of traveling. First off happy valentines day to everyone, I hope it was a wonderful one. My
hunny and I spent about five minutes with each other today since I flew from GA to CA. Yes I flew on
valnetines day, and just for the record my husband was supposed to be gone for 5 weeks at training so I came home to celebrate my daughters birthday.
Today was and adventure. Luckily my mom came out to visit and celebrate my nieces birthday so I hopped on her flight back to get a little help with my daughter. I've flown with her before but she was only 3 months old and not that active. I was a little
nervouse that she might try out her new thing, screaming. Oh yes she screams in the car, the
grociery store, the house, and pretty much where ever she can hear herself. Thank goodness she did not scream today.
Let me just start by
sayin my morning started at 3am EST and it is now 8:52 PST. So basically in 3 hours I will be up for 24 hours. No I'm not that crazy, I'm headed off to bed as soon as I'm done
writting this. So I wake up and get myself ready and pack the things I couldn't the night before.,
ie. my toothbrush. Riley ended up waking up around 4, I was not going to wake her up until about 4:15 to change her diaper and throw her in the car seat to go. We finish getting everything in the car including my daughter and head to the airport at 4:30 to catch our 6:35 flight. I just wish someone had told me before leaving the house that I could have slept for another hour! The check in counter doesn't even open
unitl 5 and in our case 5:15, not to mention we got the new girl checking us in, so what normally takes about 5 minutes took 20. I can't get upset everyone has a first day, including myself. Then we head down grab some Burger King and head on out to our gate. Well our flight was delayed an hour due to some mechanical problem with the plane. Honestly I don't want to hear that the plain is having mechanical problems, lie and tell me that the crew is late, even though I just saw them heading onto the plane. Is anyone with me on that one?
O.k. so onto the rest of the day. The first flight wasn't so bad, it wasn't full so we got to spread out and those of you who have traveled with a baby understand the
necesity of that! The only problem I had was when she pooped and it went out of her diaper up her back and down her leg and of course seeped through her pants and onto me. I didn't bring anything to change into, I've never had to change on the plane before. I get her all cleaned up 50 wipes later and changed back into her PJ's. I had an extra set of clothes but they were in my carry on which had to go under the plane seeing as it was a small plane. Almost three hours later we land in
housten. She slept a total of 10 minutes, and yes she has been up since 4 this morning when she originally woke up.
We had a 2 hour lay over and I got her to sleep for about 20 minutes. The flight is
completly packed and the stuck all of the Children, and there were about 15, in the middle together. Which is great because if my daughter screams I don't have to fell so bad knowing that at some point so is
their's. She did o.k. in the
begining, she fell asleep and slept for about 45 minutes then did alright up
unitl the last hour and a half. She wanted to move and stretch so bad but of course I can't let her crawl up and down the isle of a bumpy plane, that is just to
dangerouse not to mention
anoying to the other passengers. So of course when she tries to squeeze between me and the seat down onto the floor and I wont let her she lets out this blood
curdeling cry. You would have thought she hurt herself. She did this about 3 times. Oh yeah did I mention that she peed so much that it leaked out of her diaper and onto me twice! Yes now I have been pooped and peed on. All we need now is vomit and the lovely valentines day perfume is perfected. Eu
de Momma.
Finally after what seems to be 20 hours (it was only 4) we get off the flight and make our 2 hour trek in the car towards my home town. Thankfully she slept most of the way. Our trip is not nearly complete. My mom does not have much food in her house since she came out to see us and her husband is out of town. I completely understand this since I did not do any
grocery shopping before leaving. So we have to stop and get food. Thankfully she did
OK until we came home and she had a m
innie meltdown for dinner. I tried to keep her up until8 which for her is 11 to get her on a schedule so she is not waking up at 5 am! She crashed out right away and I am soon to follow. My husband meets up with us on Friday. So I have to make another 2 hour trip down to LA to pick him up and then 4 to the coast to visit his parents. Wish me luck and please pray that all goes smoothly with my daughter on our 6 hour car ride.
